Mark Kieser and Jamie McCarthy (former Project Scientist with K&A and now Director of the Kalamazoo River Watershed Council) described the Water Quality Trading program in the Great Miami River Watershed of Ohio, one of the largest and most successful in the U.S. The chapter reviews lessons learned about water quality trading as an economic policy instrument or EPI and makes suggestions for transferability to different watersheds based on K&A’s 12 years of work with the Miami Conservancy District.
