As part of the Kalamazoo River Water Quality Trading Project, streambank restoration and surface erosion control measures were undertaken at Graphic Packaging Corporation in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Technical assistance and partial funding were provided to GPC by the Water Quality Trading Demonstration Project Steering Committee. Over five hundred feet of riverbank along the western bank of the Kalamazoo River were reshaped and stabilized with riprap. An area of approximately five acres was reshaped and graded. Grass swales and rock aprons were installed to trap sediments and reduce the velocity of runoff from the site into the River.
