Below are the results of the fall, 2001 random quadrat sampling performed at the Graphic Packaging Prairie site. Five quadrats (1/4 square meter) were selected randomly within each of the two areas planted with native grass and flower seeds. Native grass and forb species observed within the plots are highlighted in bold.
The samples taken within the two plots vary noticeably. Bare soil occupied an average of 70% of the area within the samples taken in Plot B; only 50% of the soils were bare within the samples taken in Plot C. Seven of the planted native grass and flower species were observed in Plot C, and natives appeared in all five of the sampling locations. Only three native species were observed within Plot B, and these appeared in only one of the five quadrat samples.
